Dr Dayavathi Ashok graduated in 1992 from University of Mysore, India and completed post-graduate training in General Medicine at P. D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre Mumbai, India 1993-1996. She moved to United Arab Emirates and worked there as a specialist for 3 years.
She moved to United Kingdom in year 2000. After passing required examination to practice in UK, she completed her senior house officer training and successively passed her MRCP exam in 2002. She completed her specialist training in both Rheumatology and General Medicine from Oxford in 2008.
She worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust from 2008- 2017. Whilst working in Durham she also worked in the private sectors at the Spire Washington and BMI woodland Hospitals.
Dr Ashok became the fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2011. She moved to Chelmsford and joined as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, Chelmsford, Essex, in 2017.
She has maintained a strong interest in medical education. She was Foundation programme tutor for 6 years (2010-2016) and MRCP regional lead for North East England during 2016-2017. She is also an examiner for Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and member of Scenario Editorial committee for membership examination.
